Summer Employment
Ocean Atlantic Rentals searches every summer for fun and motivated people who don't mind hard work, and love the beach. As you have seen on this website, we have four stores up and down the Outer Banks. Employees are needed at all four locations from Corolla to Avon. Employee housing is available, but it goes quick and is first come first serve, so email us or call us as soon as you can. Our employees work hard, but have plenty of time to enjoy the beach and all that it has to offer.
We are expanding our business to incorporate surf lessons and we will be searching for male and female employees who would be able to fill that position as well as working in the store during the weekends. Employees who are able to stay through the end of August and even into September are what we are looking for in prospective candidates.

Rental Associate - Tasks include greeting & caring for customers, computer, fax and telephone use, loading and unloading customer vehicles and OAR trucks (lifting up to 100 lbs.), cleaning and maintaining equipment & rental store. At times this job can be demanding with a very fast pace in the summer heat & long hours on the weekends.

Delivery Driver - Tasks include driving a 16'-18' box trucks (after training, no special license req’d), delivering and picking up equipment from rental houses, maintaining, assembling and cleaning equipment, helping customers with equipment, and maintaining delivery and pickup files. A demanding job requiring great driving skills, a clean driving record, lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs., paperwork & truck packing skills, and independent problem solving skills.

Navigator - Tasks focus around helping the Delivery driver navigate to the next destination using Real Estate Maps and addresses. A demanding job requiring a good sense of direction, map skills, truck guiding skills, lifting (100 lbs.) & unloading skills, paperwork & truck packing organizational skills, and independent problem solving skills.

Reservationist - An administrative position that requires computer/fax/calculator skills, Microsoft Office & email knowledge, great phone communication skills, light cleaning & lifting, linen packing, and strong filing & organizational skills. This position is in an office setting (not a rental store) and interacts with the public via phone and internet.

Surf Instructor / Standup Paddleboard instructor - A great position for “people” persons who love the water and a salary padded by tips! Tasks include meeting and greeting customers, carrying and organizing surf equipment, teaching surf skills to children and adults on the beach and in the water, checking a schedule and timely-ness. Surf instructors generally give 2-3 2-hour lessons, every Monday thru Friday & have the opportunity to make extra hours working in the stores on the weekends. - Surf Shop Clerk - Island Revolution Surf Co. and skate park is currently looking for summer help. Applicants should have general knowledge of surfing and/or skating. Individuals applying would be asked to perform the following tasks, general cleaning of store (sweeping, mopping, folding clothes), product information and selling of merchandise, point of sale procedures, and customer service. Summer jobs are available and we provide housing. Applicants should have at least one year experience in a retail environment

Skate Park Attendant - Tasks include meeting and greeting customers, renting pads and boards, cleaning Island Revolution Skatepark, enforcing skatepark rules, handling paperwork. Attendants will also be working in our new surf shop. Check out the park by clicking here:

8-month position - This rental store position is offered annually from late March – October 1st. Tasks for this position include direct support to the Management with all daily duties & abilities to take on specialized duties. This position will incorporate the responsibilities of the Rental Associate, Delivery Driver, and Navigator. A natural leader with strong people, computer, & leadership skills required.

Event Associate - These 3 warehouse positions will be offered from April 1st – November 15th. Tasks include: Much physical labor, setup and take down events, organizing equipment, cleaning equipment, and loading equipment for events, lifting and carrying (100lbs.), site surveys of event areas, setup of all event rentals. Drivers’ license a plus for some truck driving.
Ryan Swinton Memorial ScholarshipOcean Atlantic Rentals and the Swinton Family provides scholarships to the top summer employees in lasting memorial to Ryan Swinton, an OAR employee who died in a tragic auto accident in August 1999.
